Tracking stats is harder than dieting
So this is day eight - beginning of the second week - on the Newcastle diet. WADE HAS LOST 30 POUNDS! He did a "run up" week prepping for the real diet, so you can say he has lost this 30 pounds in two weeks rather than one, but holy crap. Yeah, it's scary fast but he is a BIG GUY and has a lot to lose. It has to be mostly water weight, right?
I've lost 16 pounds in the last month, most of it last week. Mom has lost 5 pounds, but she is totally sedentary.
The blood sugar front is not as good. I've read about people who have suddenly had normal blood sugar after 8 days. I'm guessing that is without meds. And we are not seeing that at all. But we can keep our BG in normal bounds with normal shots of insulin which is good. We were all living way beyond healthy limits before.
We have all been hungry at times. Hot tea or coffee helps (no sweetener or creamer). The shakes are easy. The veggies are tougher. The Newcastle Diet's tomato soup was good. The "French Onion Soup" wasn't, but maybe they intended for me to use fresh thyme instead of dried. Two tablespoons was too much. Might dry stir-fry or roast cauliflower tonight. Ready for a change. But this success is too important to undermine.
Sure will be glad when the 8 to11 weeks is over and I can go on a paleo diet for the rest of our lives. We are all craving meat.
